"Tunica Roadhouse" – sounds like the title of a 1940s B-movie, doesn't it? And that's just the atmosphere that this casino tries to recreate with its walls covered in period ads, movie posters, sheet music and other memorabilia. The Roadhouse is adjacent to the Horseshoe Tunica. For related information about the Horseshoe, click here.
The nearest major airport is Memphis, about a 45-minute drive. More limited connecting air service via Vision Airlines is available directly into Tunica. (Charter flights on Allegiant also fly into Tunica.)
There is no indoor parking garage, but all guests may use complimentary valet service.
The casino has 36 table games, and approximately 1,300 slot and video poker machines. The casino is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. There are no non-smoking areas.
The casino is equipped with Caesars proprietary Total Touch system that allows customers to order drinks, redeem free play, check their Total Rewards account balances, and receive real-time offers based on play.
"Easy Pay" tickets issued by the slot machines are valid only for 60 days, so be sure to cash them in before you leave town.
There are no dining options, but the Horseshoe is just a short walk across the way. If you are a registered guest at the Roadhouse, you can charge meals and other services from the Horseshoe.
For entertainment, check out the Riverstage Showbar. There's also a mechanical bull for those of you who want to explore your inner "Urban Cowboy".
The kitschy decor in the casino and other public areas does not extend to the rooms. The hotel has 134 rooms, each with a small Jacuzzi tub. While it's billed as an all-suite hotels, the rooms are basically standard rooms of average size. All have safes, coffeemakers and refrigerators. Bathrooms have double sinks with a separate walk-in shower. Toiletries are Gilchrist and Soames. There is no closet, but plenty of room in the armoire.
Seven Stars Lounge
There is no Seven Stars Lounge, but the closest "full-service" Diamond Lounge is located next door at the Horseshoe. From 4 to 10 p.. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, a “pop-up” Diamond Lounge is open in the rear of the casino with a bar and limited food service.
Should You Choose This For Your Annual Retreat?
With seven casinos (two owned by Caesars), two hotels (pretty much everyone recommends staying at the Horseshoe), as well a high-end gourmet restaurant (Jack Binion's Steak at Horseshoe), the buffet at Horseshoe, and many other casual dining options to choose from, Tunica is certainly an option.
You may feel a bit isolated without a car – especially if you want to tour some of the nearby attractions such as Graceland.
Rental cars are not available at the Roadhouse, so be sure to rent at the airport if you think you'll want a car.
