This project aims to preserve the community’s collective memory of Coppetts Wood Hospital, Muswell Hill. Originally known as Hornsey Isolation Hospital, it was erected in 1889 by the Hornsey Local Board. and was operational until 2008. The hospital was demolished in 2019, during which time we filmed on site.
Our project will deliver a programme of activities, offering opportunities for engagement through learning events and participation to uncover, collect and record memories, recollections and oral histories from local people to preserve the community memory and building history of Coppetts Wood Hospital.
We feel it is crucial to act now, before memories fade and the building is long forgotten. All of the stories, memories, photographs and objects will be documented and added to the collections and archives at Bruce Castle Museum.
Do you have a story or something to share? We would love to hear from you.
