Home - Software Engineering and Product Development at Georgia Southern University

This is the official web site for the Unofficial Software Engineering and Product Development Learning Community in the College of Information Technology at Georgia Southern University (USEPDLC).  The USEPDLC is sponsored by the IS Software Development Project, a project housed at Georgia Southern's College of Information Technology that is funded through grants from the State of Georgia Intellectual Capital Parnership Program (ICAPP).

The IS Software Development Project has the following goals
• create, maintain, and improve various software products;;
• generate revenue to be used for university improvements;
• assist companies in the surrounding region with software development;
• provide students the experience of working in a software development environment;
• provide students interested in software development local internship opportunities;
• shape and prepare students for work in a job that involves software development;
• provide to the students exposure to learning opportunities outside of the classroom;
• employ as many students as possible for terms of multiple semesters;
• act as the nucleus for an informal software development learning community.
This web site is the basis for developing a learning community that is both virtual, internet based, and physical, housed within the College of IT at Georgia Southern.

Current Open Source Projects of the IS Software Development Project
Alumni Tracker provides the ability to track alumni of a college or unitversity for the purposes of helping to demonstrate compliance with the accreditation standards required for departments in higher education.
Intern Tracker is a web based, database application to manage the workflow of internship, coop student, and practicum employment. It provides an environment to manage activities and documents associated with intern student programs in higher education.
Faculty Search Tracker assists with the workflow of performing a faculty search. Designed to help collaboration within faculty search committees, it maintains the records needed to demonstrate compliance with rules and regulations for a faculty search.
