Coit Tower is the picturesque 180 foot tall tower at the top of Telegraph hill near downtown San Francisco. The tower was built in 1933 at the request of Lillie Hitchcock Coit. You can walk or ride to the top of Coit Tower for a fee. It can be hard to find parking around Coit Tower, so be prepared to walk up Telegraph hill from your parking spot. Telegraph hill is home to a bunch of wild parrots, hopefully you'll spot some as you hike to and from your car. The views from the top are nice, but there are plenty of nice views all over San Francisco. You can skip this attraction if you're pressed for time.
They will tell you on the bay cruise that the tower was built to resemble a fire house, this information is disputed!
