Seehwan Yoo, Ph.D.

is with Mobile operating systems lab, Dankook university. [CV]

I am at the beginning stage; I joined Dankook University in 2014, as an assistant professor.

I currently work for single-ISA heterogeneous multi-core processor (SI-HMP) computing platforms.

SI-HMP has unique characteristics in power-performance scaling of computing.

It is somewhat a mixture of homogeneous and heterogenous multi-cores.

SI-HMP uses cores that share the same instruction set; however, it consists of several cores that bear different micro-architectures,

which present differently optimized power and performance cores.

The result is that we can choose different cores, optimizing power and performance, on demand.

Furthermore, we do not need to modify existing software because all cores run with the same instruction set.

We can dynamically optimize power and performance level according to the CPU demands, or power-budget,

by selecting different cores combination.

There should be many interesting applications area that can get benefit from these cores combination.

I am doing systems research work around all the issues on the hardware/software platform.

To my Ph.D, I did some research work on real-time scheduling in a virtual machine system.

The major obstacle in real-time support in virtual machine system is that VM does not run on physical time, but virtual time.

Therefore, we need to carefully schedule VM at hypervisor level, and guest OS in a virtual machine should have a proper consideration.

Abstraction helps to build a complex system in hierarchical manner.

In real-time scheduling world, existing compositional scheduling theories help to deal with problems in hierarchical scheduling system.

Some of my paper tries to incorporate the theory into a real system ( i.e. a virtual machine system ).
