Local and original Portuguese Ports side-by-side tastings, ahoy!
KOPKE is the oldest Port house in Portugal, founded in 1638 by a German family with the same name. We'll learn the difference between Colheita and Vintage Ports and many other finer points. We'll get to taste each decade back to the Kopke Colheita 1957.
Special guest: Richard Morehouse from Pedroncelli winery in Dry Creek Valley will be present to pour & talk about his local port. Pedroncelli is one of the oldest Port makers in CA. Their 2005 won double gold in 2010 in three different wine competitions! Sonoma Harvest Fair 2010, Indy International Wine Competition 2010, and the CA State Fair. Their Port is called "Four Grapes" because it is made from 4 Portuguese varietals Tinta Madeira, Tinta Cao, Touriga Nacional, and Souzao.
Special guest: Kevin Stuart, the CA representative of KOPKE will guide us through the historic tasting. Paris Art Photographer Bertrand David's pinhole color portraits will be on display. Obtain limited editions of his work on exhibit exclusively at The Secret Wine Shop. Stilton & chocolate truffle pairings.
This will be a rare opportunity to taste, learn and take the perfect bottle of Port home just in time to share over the Holidays.
