Established in 1910, 2nd Mansfield Scout Group is one of the largest and most active Scout Groups in Mansfield and District. With 3 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs, a Scout Troop and an Explorer Unit, 2nd Mansfield Scout Group provides quality scouting for over 100 young people aged from 6 to 18. Each Section focuses on a specific age group and provides a programme based around three main themes: outdoor and adventure, world and skills. In each section a range of badges and awards support all aspects of Scouting, including the main themes: leadership, teamwork and personal development. The 2nd Mansfield Scout Group programme is exciting, fun and educational and enables young people to reach their potential in a safe and secure environment.
All Sections meet on a weekly basis and in addition take part in a variety of weekend activities, camps, sleepovers and international adventures.
2nd Mansfield is run by a dedicated team of volunteers with varying backgrounds who hold the skills, qualities and experience necessary to run the varied programme we offer. All our volunteers hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service Check; our Section Leaders complete an appropriate raining scheme and hold a current first response first aid certificate.
2nd Mansfield Scout Group also has strong connections with N.O.M.A.D.S. Scout Network who provide further Scouting experiences for members of Mansfield and District aged 18-25.
If you think Scouting’s just about knots, woggles and big shorts, then be prepared to be surprised. It’s how Richard Branson, Barack Obama and David Beckham got their start in life and you can benefit too.
There are 450,000 young people in Scouting, spread across five sections: Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and the Scout Network. Each section has its own balanced programme of activities, badges and awards.
