The Patagonian steppe is a vast semi-arid to arid region located on the southern tip of South American, mainly in southern Argentina but also in Chile. Vegetation physiognomy and floristic composition range from semi-deserts, grass and shrub steppes to humid prairies.

The Andean Patagonian Forest spreads over steep elevations along a thin strip on both sides of the Andes Mountains in southern South America. These temperate forests, located in both southern Chile and Argentina, are the southernmost forests on earth.
