Claudio Desiati

Claudio Desiati, Sardinian born, has enjoyed outdoor activities such as trekking, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and rafting since he was young. After working for several years as a software developer and tech manager, in 2004 he became an outdoors guide. 

In 2007 he earned his “outdoor guide license” from the Sardinian government and created his company, SardianDiscovery.com. 

Claudio is a certified as a paddle coach (Italian Canoe Kayak Federation), and is a member of the Italian Association for Professional Outdoor Guides serving as under-coordinator for northern of Sardinia.

Day 1  Wednesday, June 1

Drive from Alghero airport to hotel (20 min.)
Hotel check in. Introductions. Dinner in our hotel. Evening walk to the old town. Hotel in Alghero.

Day 2  Thursday, June 2
After breakfast at the hotel we'll shop for our picnic lunches and drive to Lazzatetto Beach for our first paddle. We'll head to Punta Negra and have time to swim and relax. Picnic on the beach for lunch. We'll paddle back to Lazzaretto. Dinner at a local restaurant where we'll enjoy local specialties.   Hotel in Alghero.

Day 3  Friday, June 3
We drive to Lazzaretto beach and then paddle to Punta Giglio and back. We explore coastal cliffs, caves and bays and if the conditions are right, do a bit of snorkeling.  Picnic or café lunch. Dinner together at local restaurant. Hotel in Alghero.

Day 4 Saturday, June 4
Today we paddle the spectacular Capo Caccia cliffs. If conditions permit we can paddle around the island of Foradada. Then we'll take a short drive and walk the 650 steps (down and then up, but not difficult) to our tour of Neptune's Cave. Dinner on our own. Hotel in Alghero.

Day 5  Sunday, June 5
In the morning free time before we pack and drive from Alghero to the NE coast of the island. A highlight is a stop at a special winery. Dinner together in San Pantaleo. Hotel in San Pantaleo.

Day 6  Monday, June 6
Paddling along costa Smeralda shore and it famous beaches such as Rena Bianca, and Liscia Ruja. Dinner together. Hotel in San Pantaleo.

Day 7 Tuesday, June 7
Transfer to La Maddalena Archipelago National Park on the ferry. Paddling the charming Maddelana Island and Caprera Island. Dinner on our own. Hotel in San Pantaleo.

Day 8  Wednesday, June 8
Paddle the Bay of Cannigione and Baia Sardinia.
Dinner. Hotel in San Pantaleo.

Day 9 Thursday, June 9
We stroll the famous San Pantaleo street market and buy last minute gifts before heading to the Olbia airport.

Please note we may need to alter the itinerary to accommodate:
• closures;
• unsafe conditions;
• ability and fitness of the group and individuals;
• unexpected events.
If a day of kayaking is not possible, we’re happy to organize something fun and satisfying on land.
