Here's what's coming soon for SEA:
Last year, SEA participated in the Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off,
a statewide annual cleanup event sponsored by Keep Texas Beautiful and
the Texas Department of Transportation. Trash-Off is also the signature
litter prevention event of the Great American Cleanup, sponsored by
Keep America Beautiful and takes place throughout the United States
March through May. For more information on the Trash-Off, visit www.ktb.org/programs/trashoff/
This is a competition between over 400 colleges and universities across the United States. It is co-sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the College and University Recycling Coalition (CURC). For 10 weeks this spring, UTD is trying to collect more bottles, cans, cardboard, and paper to win this earth-friendly contest. Drop off your materials in the red bins in the Student Union, Activities Center, or wherever you see a bin! We need everyone's help to make this a success. SEA knows that conservation is something that everyone can do, regardless of their age. To that end, we've begun a partnership with the Richardson Independent School District to teach students about how their actions affect the environment. Using dynamic teaching methods such as dramatic and comedic performances, visual arts, and interactive games, SEA plans to help create a new generation of environmentalists, responsible citizens who can take care of the earth we all cherish. So far, we have reached out to students at two middle schools and mentored an environmental club at a high school.
Texas Recycles Day
Each year on November 15th, SEA celebrates Texas Recycles Day (which is also America Recycles Day) with a fair in the Student Union. The focus of the event is, naturally, on recycling. We remind people to recycle in any way we can.
