2004 SDSL FINAL STANDINGS
These playoffs saw the Junkyard Dogs limp in to the playoffs on the last game of the season over the Avolanche. This marked the first time that the Avolanche did not make the playoffs. In both semi-final games, upsets were the norm, as the BigMacs easily handled the very surprised Enforcers 4-0 and the defending champion Junkyard Dogs dispatched the heavily favourite T-Bombers. The Finals saw the perennial underdog and under achiever BigMacs take on the defending champion Junkyard Dogs. Fan support seemed to be on the BigMacs side as they were now in their 4th championship final looking for their first win. The stars seemed to be aligned for the BigMacs as they took a 3-1 series lead and a 7-0 lead in game 5. Crews started to plaster the BigMacs lockeroom with plastic and plenty of champagne in anticipation of their first ever win. The Junkyard Dogs had other ideas in mind however, as they came back to take games 5,6 and 7 to repeat as SDSL champions!! This left the BigMacs manager bewildered and fans calling for his head, saying he can’t win the big one. That’s 0-4 for the BigMacs and 2-0 for the Junkyard Dogs.
