2001 FINAL STANDINGS
PREMIER DIVISION
ELITE DIVISION
The finals are now a thing of the past. With chants of REPEAT emanating through the air the Enforcers overcame the Tuggers strong starting pitching to win the SDSL championship in 6 games. The Tuggers took early leads in 5 of the 6 games but their once vaunted bullpen became their nemesis in blowing 3 of the 4 leads. The Tuggers took out IRod in the 3rd game for balance of the series, however, the Enforcers did not miss a beat and Piazza came through with shining colours and kept the Tuggers running game at bay. Congratulations to the 2001 SDSL champion ENFORCERS!
The first quarter final series saw The Enforcers take their first step in trying to repeat as SDSL champions by destroying the underdog Devils. The games were all high scoring as the Enforcers overcame a 14-6 deficit to win 21-18 in the fourth and final game in what was the highest scoring playoff game in SDSL history.
The Enforcers escaped the blowouts without any injuries and have Kevin Brown ready to start game 1 against the Junkyard Dogs in one of the semi-finals.
The TuggersNuts/BigMacs series ended as expected with the Nuts defeating the Macs 4-1. The only interesting part was in the final game; the Macs rolled an injury onto Ken Caminiti's card. With the Nuts manager reeling and worrying about the semi-finals, he pulled a rabbit out of a hat and rolled the injury back to the Macs!
The Semi’s were complete and another investigation was in progress. In what can only be called the dirtiest series in SDSL history, the TuggersNuts upset the first place Avolanche and in the process hurt 5 of the Avalanches' starting 9 players. In two instances the Nuts manager rolled back the injury! In the final game the Avolanche had all 5 starters hurt!! The Nuts went into the championship with Ken Caminiti hurt for the first 3 games.
In the other semi-final the Enforcers continued their quest to back-to-back championships by defeating the leader in the Elite division, Junkyard Dogs, 4-2. The cap to the series was the capability of the Enforcers to hit a grand slam by rolling in the 1-3 range; the 4-20 range was an out! This resourcefulness was a direct result to winning that game and the series. The Enforcers had to play the first 3 games of the finals without the help of Bobby Abreu.
