Engineers Week (E-week) is celebrated in the fourth week of February aligning with George Washington's birthday; our nation's first president was a military engineer and land surveyor. E-Week (formally National Engineer's Week (NEW)) was founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) to increase public awareness and appreciation of the engineering profession. NSPE works closely with a number of nonprofit organizations and outreach-based activites; today the nation wide initiatives are branded under "Discover-E".
