HISTORY ------------------------------------------------------------------
 
Probably founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th Century B. C., the town of Cagliari was the seaport of the Mediterranean from the dawn of time. Land of conquest and important town among the trade routes of the Mediterranean, Cagliari was ruled by Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Pisans and Aragonese till the annexation to the Royal House of Savoy.

Cagliari is the Regional Capital of Sardinia and developed around four quarters named Castello, Marina, Villanova and Stampace


In Sardinia, Between Bronze Age and Iron Age (1800-500 B.C.), has developed  the well known Nuragic Civilization: a mysterious and advanced people who lived in Sardinia and built impressive cities and fortifications called Nuraghe, on which the scholars from all over the world are still researching. In Sardinia there are about 8000 Nuraghe, Tombs of the Giants - megalithic gallery graves, similar to the Court Cairn tombs of Ireland - and Holy Wells where was practiced the cult of water-worship

La città di Cagliari, fondata probabilmente dai Fenici nel VIII secolo, si è delineata fin dalle origini dei tempi come porto dell'Isola verso il Mediterraneo. Luogo di conquiste e di commercio, Cagliari ha accolto Punici, Romani, Vandali, Bizantini, Pisani e Aragonesi fino all'inclusione nei possedimenti della Casa Reale di Savoia.
 
Cagliari è Capoluogo della Regione Sardegna e si è sviluppata attorno a quattro quartieri denominati Castello, Marina, Vilanova e Stampace.
 
Fra l'Età del Bronzo e l'Età del Ferro (1800-500 a. C.) si è sviluppata in Sardegna la famosa Civiltà Nuragica: un popolo misterioso ed evoluto ha abitato la terra di Sardegna e vi ha edificato città e impressionanti fortificazioni, chiamate Nuraghi, su cui ancora gli studiosi di tutto il mondo stanno ricercando. Sono presenti in Sardegna circa 8000 nuraghi, Tombe di Giganti (tombe ritenute dalla leggenda le case delle fate) e pozzi sacri in ui era praticato il culto dell'acqua.
