About me

Open ports

To see a list of open ports on Windows XP you can install one of many firewall applications, or you can go to a command prompt and enter:

netstat -ano

To find the program that is using the port, look at the PID number, then use the task manager to match the PID with a running process. To get a more detailed list that includes the EXE file and DLL file names (this takes a bit longer) try this:

netstat -anobv

 Converting escaped characters to normal characters in JavaScript

 function decode(str) {
  var ta=document.createElement("textarea");
  ta.innerHTML=str.replace(/</g,"&lt;").replace(/>/g,"&gt;");
  return ta.value;
}

alert(decode("&nbsp;&quot;<hello>ssds"));

Using Java to connect HTTP servers outside Firewall

 Java 1.4.2 :

System.getProperties().put( "proxySet", "true" );
System.getProperties().put( "proxyHost", "myProxyMachineName" );
System.getProperties().put( "proxyPort", "85" );

Java 5.0:

URL url = new URL( "http://www.google.com" ) ;

URLConnection conn = url.openConnection(
 new Proxy( Proxy.Type.HTTP ,
 new InetSocketAddress( "192.168.1.1" , 4480 ) ) ) ;

How to ping the port number of machine

 bala@bala-desktop:~$ nmap -p 4480 192.168.1.1

Starting Nmap 4.03 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2006-11-01 17:47 IST
Interesting ports on ashok (192.168.1.1):
PORT     STATE SERVICE
5005/tcp open  unknown

Nmap finished: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 1.688 seconds

Creating Tag in SubVersion

$ svn copy http://svn.example.com/repos/calc/trunk \
http://svn.example.com/repos/calc/tags/release-1.0 \
-m "Tagging the 1.0 release of the 'calc' project."

Committed revision 351.

There's no difference between a tag and a branch.Both are just
ordinary directories that are created by copying. Just as with
branches, the only reason a copied directory is a “tag” is because
humans have decided to treat it that way:as long as nobody ever
commits to the directory, it forever remains a snapshot.If people
start committing to it, it becomes a branch.
