Thank you for your interest in our team!
Linda Chen and Catherine McCoy, while looking to find an outlet for young women with a desire to play highly competitive volleyball while balancing a rigorous academic collegiate life, founded the Santa Clara University Women's Club Volleyball team in 2005. After many seasons of struggle to form the team, they were able to successfully convince members of the Santa Clara athletic community that a team was needed despite the presence of the NCAA volleyball team.
Currently, the SCU Women's Club Volleyball team competes in the Northern Californian Collegiate Volleyball League, in which they were named champions for three consecutive seasons (2007-2010). In 2005, the team finished 5th in the NIRSA tournament. They are also members of USA Volleyball and compete within the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation, which hosts the National Championship Tournament, at which the team placed 2nd in Division I during the 2009-2010 season.
The SCU Women's Club Volleyball team is partially funded by the school, and the rest comes from member dues, donations, and fundraising. If you would like to help support our team financially, please see our Support page.
Tryouts for the team are held in late October. Prospective players attending Santa Clara University should attend open gyms, held from late September through early October. Practices are held following tryouts through to Winter Break, and the season begins in January and runs through early April, culminating with the National Championship Tournament.
