We cordially invite you to attend the SCSCB's 19th regional meeting in Grenada, the spice isle, from Saturday, July 27 to Wednesday, July 31 (inclusive). The purpose of the meeting is to bring together Caribbean and international wildlife professionals, ornithologists, educators, students and others to share their knowledge, passion, and experiences, and participate in practical activities that promote applied conservation. These include concurrent paper sessions, poster sessions, workshops, symposia, round-table discussions, working group meetings and project development sessions.

The meeting will be hosted locally by St. George's University (SGU), with assistance from the Forestry Dept., Grenada Fund for Conservation, Grenada Dove Conservation Program, Sustainable Grenadines Inc. and others. All sessions will be held in auditoriums and classrooms on SGU's world-class campus, located on Grenada's stunning south coast (see photo below). Affordable lodging is available for all delegates in campus dormitories (and the dorms are nice!). We have also arranged discounted rooms in charming nearby hotels for those that prefer this option.

The theme of the meeting is "Bird Conservation in a Changing Climate." The call for abstracts to present a paper or poster is open; deadline for receipt of abstracts is May 24th. In addition to the 5 days of the main conference, there will be pre- and post conference workshops, symposia and field trips, so be sure to save dates on your calendar for several days before and after the conference to participate in some of these events.

Be sure to mark your calendars and plan to attend! Grenada is a fascinating country with so much natural beauty, interesting history and culture, and of course, wonderful birds (including the endangered and endemic Grenada Dove). You will definitely want to spend time seeing the country and should plan some extra time for this. (Consider a holiday with your family or friends to tour the countryside, note that Carnival is on in Grenada from August 8 to 10).

Registration, the call for papers and online application for travel support are now open. Further details on the program, pre-, post- and mid-conference field trips, etc. are being added to this website regularly, so check back often!
