The coronavirus happening during this season has severely hampered social interactions and one of this includes the scouts coming into our troop. However, we were able to personally welcome new scouts through a drive-by with 5 adults and 4 youth to drop off neckerchiefs and say hello to each scout and their parents in an appropriate manner. With a total of 10 new youth being greeted and keeping 6 feet apart for the other scouts from their front yards, it took 2 hours to complete and on a pleasant day too. In fact, I was one of the people driving. The interactions we had felt short and sweet, and hopefully we will be able to do something similar in the future.
My name is Robbie and I am an arrow of light scout joining Troop 22. On Saturday morning, they welcomed me into the troop by surprising me with a parade of cars at my house. They gave me my scout neckerchief and slide. I was so surprised I nearly jumped out of my socks! It made me feel happy to be part of the Troop. I look forward to doing merit badges with my new Troop.
