Dear Troop 22 Families,
This is your friendly first of the month informative email. If there ever is a cancelation of an event due to weather an email will be sent out three hours prior to the start of the event detailing any changes to the schedule. Please read all the information carefully and feel free to email me at cleepbrun@gmail.com if you have any questions. Cheers!

3/8 Troop Meeting 7-8:30pm Unionville Presbyterian Church Parking Lot: All scouts should wear their full uniform for this event. We will be cooking walking tacos on camp stoves and reviewing proper cleaning procedures for cooking gear on camping trips.
3/12-3/13 Troop Camping Trip to Camp Horseshoe: The troop will meet promptly at 5:30pm Friday night at the Unionville Presbyterian Church to load gear and depart by 6:00pm for the trip. Scouts should wear full uniforms and have either a bagged dinner to eat during the trip or should have eaten prior to arriving to the church. We will do our best to carpool but during COVID we are limiting the number of scouts in each car so there is a possibility that you will be responsible for transporting your scout to and back home from the event. The troop will be tent camping and it may be cold (especially at night) so please pack and dress accordingly. All scouts should have pants (no shorts), a water bottle, rain gear, and close toed shoes present at time of departure or they will not be allowed to attend the trip. Pick up time will be 6:30pm at the Camp Horseshoe parking lot where we will return directly to the Unionville Presbyterian Church to unload gear. We should be done unloading and ready to go home by 8pm Saturday night. The program for the event includes a Friday night campfire, patrol cooking, use of the rifle range, a nature scavenger hunt, and patrol team building. The link that follows is for the Sign-up Genius to RSVP for the event. The deadline to sign-up is Sunday March 7th at Midnight. It is the expectation of the troop that each family responds either in the affirmative or negative for attendance at this event by the deadline please!

Troop 22 Merit Badge Offerings: The troop will be offering two merit badges every fiscal quarter each year. One will be an eagle required badge while one will not. Merit badges offer a deep dive into a specific area of study for the school and require ample amounts of time and dedication to complete the badge. Each scout could take both badges each quarter due to our commitment to have the counselors coordinate together to make sure scheduling does not conflict. As always, scouts can independently contact merit badge counselors and work on any badge at any time if they so choose to schedule and coordinate the study with a registered counselor. Starting the beginning of April, I am pleased to announce that the troop will offer the non-eagle merit badge Energy (hosted by the Ganti Family) and the eagle required merit badge Cooking (hosted by the Brun Family). If you are interested in completing either of these two merit badges please email Mr. Ganti for the Energy Badge at ravi@ganti.us and/or Mr. Brun for the Cooking badge at cleepbrun@gmail.com by the end of the month. Please include both scout and parents email and phone numbers in this initial communication and you will be contacted directly on the first of April with details on merit badge gatherings. Please note that cooking requires a large commitment and there will be some weekend requirements to complete the badge in the three-month period. In addition, a small group of our scouts have reached out to Mr. Sclar to finish start eagle required badge Citizenship in the Community. If you are interested in joining this independent group while they work on this eagle required badge, please email Mr. Sclar directly at caseysclar01@gmail.com. He wants to start this badge soon so please contact him by the end of the week if you are interested.
TLC Minutes: The TLC minutes are attached to this email for all those who are interested in reviewing the last youth lead planning meeting.
