Josh was born in Preston and moved to Lancaster at the age of 5. He lives in Bowerham, in the Scotforth West ward. He attended Lancaster Steiner School before moving to Dallam School in Cumbria where he sat his GCSE and A-Levels following which he gained a degree at Lancaster University. He is currently studying broadcasting at Preston. Josh has strong connections locally, especially with the Grand Theatre and Footlights where he has been involved for many years.
Josh joined the Labour party at the age of 17 and has been involved with the party locally ever since. He is a strong advocate for consultation when it comes to local issues and believes that residents are not consulted enough on issues that matter to them, from recycling to development residents need to know what is going on. Josh, Colin and Sheila have been out on the doorstep talking to residents since before Christmas listening to residents’ concerns about the state of their pathways, recycling, development and the cuts.
Josh is passionate about working with other members of the party and local government to fight against the draconian cuts that are to hit Lancaster hard in the coming year. The coalition is ignorantly and brutally dropping the axe where it will hit the poorest hardest and it is completely unacceptable. Josh holds the view that cuts are needed but they need to be in the right place and at the right time.
Josh is a young, enthusiastic and committed individual who believes he can bring a different perspective to local government. He hopes to work as a team with other like minded councillors to bring local concerns to the forefront of local politics and make a difference.
