Meetings of the SCNHS are held
on the first Friday of each month (October - May)
at 7:30pm at
Sunshine Coast Arts Centre
5714 Medusa St

Meetings generally consist of a discussion of recent sightings of birds and other wildlife and, after a break for refreshments, a presentation related to natural history.

New members and guests are welcome. We encourage guests to attend our monthly meeting, to join the society, and to participate in the naturalist community on the Sunshine Coast.
If you do not wish to join please help us to fund these meetings by making a donation.

Nature Walks

Nature Walks (usually bird walks) are held almost every month, generally on the Sunshine Coast, but occasionally further afield. They are led by local experts and all SCNHS members are welcome. For insurance reasons, all participants must be members of SCNHS.
For the bird walks, the location is usually chosen to suit the time of year, so that a good variety of birds are seen.
It would be appreciated by other birders if you did not bring dogs on bird walks.

Disclaimer: You should understand that when participating in any nature walk, there is the possibility of physical injury. If you participate in these nature walks, you agree that you do so at your own risk, are voluntarily participating in these activities, assume all risk of injury to yourself, and agree to release and discharge the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society from any and all claims or causes of action, known or unknown, arising out of your participation.

Christmas Bird Counts

There is no walk organised in December. Instead, birders are encouraged to take part in the Christmas Bird Count for the Sunshine Coast or for Pender Harbour or for both. Links to websites giving a brief history and a description of the Christmas Bird Count are here.
