45 Years of SCMRRC

The proud looking gentlemen in the photo at right are members of the Stoney Creek Model Railroad Club, and they have a right to be proud. This year they celebrate 45 years as an active model railroading club in the metro-Detroit area.

There are currently 30 members in this 100% NMRA-member, round robin club that is based in the northern suburbs of Detroit, MI. During the last 45 years the club has promoted model railroading and the NMRA through club activities which include displaying their modular HO layout at various events including churches, shopping centers and local museums as well as various NMRA meets from division to national levels.

The club has build a permanent display at the Van Hoosen Farm Museum in Rochester Hills, MI that is an operational scale model of downtown Rochester along with early rail lines serving that city. The club has also built an operating display for the Detroit Veteran's Hospital which brings fun entertainment to the patients and their families.

Active NMRA participation is shown by the number of Master Modelers, the number of Achievement Program certificates and the many Golden Spike awards that represent the level of dedication to the hobby that our members have.
