It is the policy of the Georgetown Public School District to provide our employees and students with a level of privacy and confidentiality regarding any information concerning any of our employees or students.


I acknowledge that in the course of my work, I may have access to confidential information (oral, inter-office communications, internal publications, written or computer generated not otherwise available to the public at large) about employees or students, their families and/or personal business.  School business information includes computer programs, software and supporting documentation, technological improvement plans, strategic plans, financial information and employee information (including but not limited to co-workers and their families).


I further acknowledge that making this information known or available to others who do not have a legal right to that information may violate the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), other Federal and State Laws and the Georgetown Public School District School Committee policies.




My right to enter or make use of confidential information is restricted to my need to know the data or information to perform my job responsibilities.  I will keep my computer access password(s) confidential.  If another method of accessing a computer system is used, I will restrict its use to myself.  I will not discuss any confidential information in any public areas, hallways, gathering spaces and etc.


I agree that I will not reveal, make known, or provide access to confidential information except to those having legal or otherwise permissible rights to that information.  Furthermore, I agree not to access confidential information for any reason other than the performance of my duties as an employee of the Georgetown Public School District.


I will hold all confidential information of which I have knowledge in the truest confidence, as required by law.  I agree to utilize confidential information obtained by me only for the benefit of the employee or student or in the performance of my job responsibilities.


Unauthorized disclosure, copying and/or misuse of confidential information is a serious breach of duty and will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or contract with the Georgetown Public School District.  Further, this agreement mandates compliance extending beyond employment, contract, or association with the Georgetown Public School District, as required by law.


By signing this Confidentiality Agreement, I acknowledge that I have read and understand it.  I understand my failure to comply with this agreement may affect my future access to confidential information and/or Georgetown Public School District’s computing, telephony, and other information systems or databases.  I further acknowledge that the district will impose disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment, subject to the collective bargaining agreement and state law.
