This project aims to better understand human emotions via acoustic and/or semantic analysis, and the students could attempt to achieve this by applying deep learning.
To learn how to do research in a professional and ethical way, gain an in-depth understanding of the topic, learn to work independently and in team to produce deliverables for the project. Besides learning how to do research, the students will have the opportunity to produce a scientific writing as well as work with other students to learn project management skills and interact with HLT researchers to learn the working life as a researcher.
There are two parts in this project: (A) To design an experiment and perform an in -depth study on human emotions and deep learning (B) To deliver a demo to illustrate the results from the experiment The student(s) will do literature survey, design and conduct experiment to collect data, perform data analysis, prototyping, as well as deliver a report for this project. The student(s) may also do further data collection in user study and have opportunity to work with other students to learn project management skills and do scientific writing.
