Drug Resistance and the Advent of Intelligent Drug Design

Decembers’ SHOW
is focused on highlighting the current challenges faced with the growing resistance of pathogens to existing therapeutic drugs.Further, we will highlight the advent of intelligent drug design and development towards obviating drug resistance issues in the future. Our outstanding speaker panel draws from the forefront of research and development spanning both academia and industry.

* Panel Moderator: Celia Schiffer, Ph.D., is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS), she is also the Director of UMMS’s Center for AIDS Research, as well as the Co-Director Institute for Drug Resistance whose mission is to facilitate, support and promote novel, multidisciplinary approaches to addressing the challenges of drug resistance

    • President of Research and Development and Chief Scientific Officer at ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
  • Panelist: Tara Kieffer, Ph.D.
    • Associate Director of Clinical Virology in the Infectious Disease department at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
  • Panelist: Margaret (Peg) Riley, Ph.D.
    • Professor in the Department of Biology, University of Massachusetts Amherst and co-founder of the Institute for Drug Resistance
  • Panelist: Catherine Yan, Ph.D.
    • Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a faculty of the Dana Farber Harvard Cancer Center, and affiliated faculty of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute
  • Panelist: James Sullivan, Ph.D.
