Indexes are very helpful in identifying families in the census. Occasionally, names and places will be indexed incorrectly. It is always best to find and examine the original census image. This website has been designed to list small places in Schleswig-Holstein (1871-1918) and to provide quick and easy access to the original census data for each place. Several indexing projects for Danish Census records are in progress. None are complete at this time. The free sites include:

Dansk Demografisk Database [DDD] available at this link. To see the progress of this project click on this link. Clicking on a particular colored space in this table will bring up a map of the county showing all the parishes within that particular county.
