I am an assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Previously, I was an assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Chicago and before that I was a graduate student at Yale University.

My research focuses on seventeenth-century philosophy and is concerned primarily with questions at the intersection of metaphysics, mathematics, and theology. I am particularly interested in theories of substance, dependence, infinity, and being in the early modern period, focusing on Descartes, Spinoza, Locke, and Leibniz.

My CV is here.  My email is aschechtman@wisc.edu.
