The Old Factory Watershed (52°48'N,77°32'W)

The Old Factory Watershed went through several phases as the Tyrrell Sea receded into what is now James Bay. We published this model of the coastal uplift sequence in Quaternary Research (doi). In all images, the 2005 and 2006-2007 sites are represented with red points and the modern coastline in white.

Phase 1: Completely submerged. Approximately when the Laurentian Ice Sheet and the Tyrrell Sea parted and land was first exposed.

Phase 2: Open paleo-bay.

Phase 3: Isolated coastal inlet with an island at the mouth.

Phase 4: Northwest facing river.

Phase 5: Southwest facing river.

Phase 6: Modern Coastline.
