Northern Region Health Careers Camp

 Northern Health Careers Camp is

in La Crosse, Wisconsin 


DESCRIPTION: 
This is a camp designed for high school students interested in a future healthcare career. The camp will offer exposure to realistic healthcare as provided by the area facilities:  Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Vernon Memorial Healthcare in Viroqua and Gundersen Healthcare System. Students have hands-on opportunities to interact with health care professionals and watch them in action including multiple job shadows. There are opportunities to explore training programs in Nursing, Physician and Physician Assistant, Occupational, Physical and Respiratory Therapy, Radiography, and Paramedic & Emergency services and others.
The camp is also a great opportunity for students to visit college campuses with like-minded peers as they prepare for post-secondary education. Campus visits include:  Viterbo University, the University of Wisconsin -La Crosse and Western Technical College with student-led tours and admission department presentations. 

DETAILS: 
High school students ages 16 and older are eligible to participate in Scenic River's Health Careers Camp with housing on the UW-La Crosse campus. The camp application consists of a student essay and application as well as two teacher references. Cost of the camp is $95, which includes nine meals, snacks, lodging, materials and local program transportation. Financial assistance may be available- contact Executive Director Laura Pettersen at lpettersen@scenicriversahec.org
