The Cardiac Surgery Advanced Life Support Course is a set of protocols devised to address the post cardiac surgery patient suffering a cardiac arrest. The goal was to create a common language for all cardio-thoracic practitioners, and to empower all practitioners to act with confidence to better treat critically ill post cardiac surgery patients using well validated protocols to safely manage the patient until expert help arrives.

 

This course:

• Includes Pre- and Post-Tests structured to reflect the course content

• Combines lecture sessions with high-fidelity, full-body human simulation and in-depth hands-on skills acquisition

• Is designed to

   ° Immediately assess the needs of the critically ill post cardiac patient

   ° Respond to significant changes in an unstable patient

   ° Initiate management of acute, life-threatening conditions

   ° Recognize the need for expert consultation and/or patient transport

   ° Prepare the critically ill post cardiac surgery patient for optimally supported transport

• Demonstration of Cardiac Arrest Protocol

• Normal and abnormal patient progression

• Blood pressure and Arrhythmias (cardiovascular problems)

• Cardiac arrest management with chest opening

• Management of Cardiothoracic Emergencies

• Post Test– Cardiac Arrest Moulage
