PARKING LOT UPDATE
Because of your generous support through the use of your
monthly “Capital Improvements” envelope, we have taken advantage of the lower-volume summer traffic in our
front parking lot and began paving the highly-durable, highway mesh, 6 inch thick cement drives on the far west and east side of our lots. Of course, we will be pouring in stages in order to minimize the inconvenience of those entering & exiting our
campus at any given hour. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to improve our physical plant. Also, once this portion of the project is complete and our savings is depleted, we ask that you continue your generous support
so that we may resurface & stripe the remainder of the
asphalt part of the parking lot. If God is willing, we hope
this new parking lot will last another 40 years. Other capital improvements on the horizon expressed by those who
completed the parish-wide survey include the
upgrading/replacing of our sound system in church & a new
lighted sign to replace the old sign along River Road
of our church.
Jack Iko Memorial Run
The first Jack Iko Memorial Run 2012 included
many of our school children and parishioners
with a goal to raise money for New Orleans Friends
for Life (NOFL). This organization helps families
who have lost babies but cannot afford a burial.
All are welcome. We raised enough funds to
purchase a crypt here in our SCB cemetery for NOFL
and this summer four babies were buried in this crypt. These babies were buried with the honor and
dignity that greatly pleases our Lord.
Thanks again to the SCB families and friends who generously supported this cause. Your actions resulted
in helping grieving families have peace in knowing
their babies were buried with the respect and
dignity they deserve. When we support these families,
we actively engaged in our firm belief;
ALL LIFE IS SACRED.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born
I consecrated you. Jer 1:5; cf Job 10:8-12; Ps 22:10-1 1.
Sunday, September 7 is the date for the Top Chef Fundraiser/Auction/Food Tasting Social. Only 250 tickets will be available soon at the Rectory. Last year they sold out early and those there enjoyed a special day—don’t miss it!
