Located at over 2,000 feet elevation atop Sawnee Mountain in Forsyth County Georgia and overlooking Lake Lanier, the Sawnee Mountain Amateur Group (SMAG) VHF and UHF repeaters are open for use by licensed Amateur Radio Operators in the North Metro Atlanta and North Georgia.  Welcome and enjoy!

We've been located on top of Sawnee Mountain since 1974.  Click here to read the Forsyth County News story.

SMAG provides the repeater infrastructure for the Forsyth County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), including Skywarn and StormReady. Forsyth Co. ARES provides emergency communications for the Cumming Police Dept.,  Red Cross, Georgia Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA).
The UHF repeater also hosts IRLP (node # 4065) and also supports a dedicated radio link to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, GA. The UHF repeater is also part of the Georgia Skywarn Linked Repeater Network.

SMAG is a member of the Southeastern Repeater Association (SERA) and both repeaters are SERA coordinated to operate on the frequencies listed.

We encourage all hams in Forsyth and surrounding counties that access our repeaters on a regular basis to become a supporting member of the SMAG to assist in covering the cost to keep these repeaters functional. Supporting members gain access to additional repeater functions such as autopatch, IRLP use, etc.

Membership is $25 per household per year (new Hams pay half price the first year).
