5th April

Dear all,

It is with deep regret and sadness that I have to report that at last night's Cabinet meeting, Cabinet members voted to go ahead with their decision to close Friern Barnet Library on 5th April. Despite 76 public questions all related to the closure of FBL, a packed gallery of supporters and strong arguments from Scrutiny Committee members, Cllr Brian Salinger and Cllr Barry Rawlings, Cabinet members voted swiftly, with little discussion or debate, to go ahead with the closure as planned. We were informed, by Cllr Rams, that a temporary facility will be in place at the artsdeport by the end of this month. This is an extremely sad day for all the residents of Friern Barnet and I would just like to thank all of you for your amazing support over the past year. Without that support Friern Barnet Library would have been closed in September 2011.

Best regards,

Fiona Cochrane, Chair,
