We been workin’ so hard

Labor Day is here, and if that means what I think it does, then we honor working people. To help us toward that goal, today I’m posting here about a song performed at the Ribhouse over Labor Day weekend. AM Radio Tribute Band played both Saturday and Sunday nights at the Ribhouse. Our versatile singer friend Paul Bug made his first trip to the Ribhouse and graced us with several guest appearances throughout Saturday night. During set 3, he led us through two of our favorite songs by the Animals.

The second of these songs was “We Gotta Get Out of This Place.” (Update: You can now see video of this here.) Of course there’s a lot of other meaning in this song too, and granted the Vietnam War was in full swing at this time 50 years ago, making this song an anthem for the US military. During AM Radio Tribute Band’s rendition of this song on Saturday night, I paid close attention when Paul sang those parts about the father working hard, slaving his life away, how he worked, and how we all work, work, work, work.

Do your work, everybody, and hopefully you too can take a load off this Labor Day.

Here's a look at where I'll be working throughout the rest of Zeptember and into Rocktober, including AMRTB's return to the Lehigh Valley for our debut at the famed Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe! Tickets are on sale now! See below for info.
