Goodbye Zeptember, Hello Rocktober — 2019 Edition

Every year, I celebrate 30 days of Zeptember. This past month, some ways I celebrated Zeptember:

  • I saw Robert Plant in concert. The most memorable moment of the show was a high-pitched sustained note at the top of Robert’s range during “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You.”
  • I worked extra hard preparing background materials for the radio show “Carol Miller’s Get the Led Out.”
  • I attended three rehearsals with a band called The 1.21 for a show I’ll be playing with them this coming weekend. We are playing a full set of Led Zeppelin songs, and we’re serving as the opening act for Gretchen Menn, the guitar whiz behind the tribute band Zepparella. Now how’s that for a start to Rocktober!?

One thing I wish hadn’t happened this Zeptember was a book plummeting off of the top shelf of a bookcase in the dead of night. The cover of Dave Lewis’s “Led Zeppelin Evenings” stripped right off of the rest of the book when it hit my living room floor!
