Fine Arts Academy

The Satellite Academy of Fine Arts (SAFA) is a small personalized learning community within Satellite High School. SAFA draws on the students' interest in learning about the arts, and integrates arts-specific curriculum and instruction into core academic curriculum. In other words, students in the academy get the benefit and experience of learning the ways the fine arts connect to their English and social science classes. We find that this keeps students with a high interest in the arts engaged in their core curriculum. In addition to their core curriculum, students have access to one of the highest-achieving and most diverse set of fine arts course offerings anywhere in the state.
