It is with heavy hearts that the Blue Jay Zone has to announce the passing of Evan Thomas.  Evan played Rally Cap through to Bantam in our zone.  The following is a note from Clint Binsfeld, one of Evan’s baseball coaches:

I had the pleasure to coach Evan.  He was a quick-handed middle infielder that played in two Western Pee Wee Championships and two Bantam National Championships.  He was a loyal, selfless teammate, neighbor, and close friend to our children and we will miss him dearly.

Evan’s dad Scott was a tireless volunteer in the Blue Jay Zone as a coordinator, coach, and volunteer.  Scott also was involved with Saskatoon Baseball as a coordinator and chairperson of Pee Wee Westerns.  Evan made the decision a couple of years ago to focus his attentions on hockey.  His passion for hockey ultimately led him to play with the Humboldt Broncos.  Our most heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the Thomas’s, and to all of friends and teammates of Evan’s.  You will not be forgotten Evan.

The picture of the ball player in the poster on the right side of the Blue Jay web site home page is Evan.

A memorial service will be held in Evan's honor 1 pm (doors open at 12 pm), Monday, April 16 at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.
