Baseball Update to Saskatoon Members

posted Jun 2, 2020, 10:45 AM by Saskatoon Blue Jays

Good evening Blue Jay Executive,

We had a Baseball Saskatoon meeting on Thursday night. We are still planning for a season in July and August. The following is the messaging that went out tonight to currently registered players for the upcoming 2020 season (was not being sent to people already refunded).

We at Baseball Saskatoon are beginning to plan what the upcoming season would look like if we are cleared by the health authorities to begin activities in Phase 4 of the Saskatchewan Re-open Plan. The health and safety of our members is our top priority.

Ideally, we plan on having the season run from July 1 until August 30.  Tryouts would run on July 1 and 2 and  would be condensed with the hopes of getting teams formed ASAP so that the regular season game schedule can begin on July 6.  The hope is for most divisions to play 2-3 games per week with the exception of RallyCap which will stay at 2 games per week. Games will be scheduled Sunday through Friday evenings for the 11U to 18U divisions.  League Championships will take place during the last week/weekend of August depending on division.

We hope to maximize the time we have available so that the players can get as much time on the diamond as possible this summer.  We thank you for your patience and understanding in these difficult times.

Thank you
Jesse Korte, Baseball Saskatoon
