Test Setup

The tests loads were connected to the SARK-110 using the BNC to MCX adaptor pigtail. The SARK-110 was calibrated using the OSL calibration procedure using three loads implemented in BNC connectors: short, open, and using a 49.9 ohm SMT resistor.

Notice that for high impedance measurements and frequencies above 14 MHz the pigtail adaptor introduces some error, which is increased with frequency. This is because the residuals of the adaptor are significant compared with the measured load so the OSL compensation does not work efficiently in this condition. This explains the differences in these conditions compared with the AIM4160 or the PA1ARE, where the test loads were connected directly to the output of the analyzer so without the effects of the adaptor.

Test Loads

The test loads were built using standard components purchased from DigiKey and implemented in BNC connectors. The components were taken directly from the package and were not screened using lab equipment.
