saraswati dEvi दॆवि सरस्वति is the goddess of music, speech, arts,
poetry, knowledge and all alike. Also called as वाग्दॆवि, वीणापानि, हंसारूढिनि, शारद, हंसिनि, विद्यादॆवि, वीणावानि, महश्वॆत, वागीश्वरि, वाणिश्री ||  The following is a shlOka offering prayer to dEvi saraswati : सरस्वति नमस्तुभ्यम् वरदे कामरूपिणि  विद्यारम्भम् करिष्यामि, सिद्धिर्भवतु मे सदा || & also - वीणाहस्तॆ नमस्तुभ्यं नमॊ गीतरतॆ सदा | सर्वविद्याप्रदॆ तुभ्यं नमः शक्त्यादिपूजिते ||
daivee veeNa It is the veeNa of gods and godesses. This veeNa is the human body, mind, the soul and is inclusive of all of his creations, that is 'everything". Our 'self' which is one of his creations and  a small part of 'everything', is hence, also a daivee veeNa.
mAnushee veeNa Its the veeNa of the manushya (meaning human). All musical instruments made by us fall under this category. वाण्यन्ते इति वीण. mAnushee veeNa, in the stringed type have many forms. Two extremes being the ऎकतन्ति वी and शततन्ति वीण. Three categories being, those played by plucking, those played with a bow and those which are played with a hammer or stick.  veeNa is an instrument gloried by all Gods  and Godesses, as this is the instrument which aids transcendental meditation through nAda yOga, through which one can easily attain mOksha. Of all the musical instruments of Bharata dEsha, vINa is the oldest instrument and commands veneration among all our instruments. vIna was and is the instrument played by nArada muni, hanumantha, saraswati, rAvaNa, tumburu, lava, kusha, Raghavendra swAmigaLu, and many more greats.
saraswati veeNa is the an age old musical instrument of India having records of existence in the Vedas and is one of the most important forms of Veena. Prominent Saraswati veena artists of today are Smt. e gAyatri, Shri. rAjEsh vaidya, Shri. d bAlakrishna, Dr. jayanti kumaresh, Smt. kaZa subhAshini shAstri and

many more.  The similarity between the daivee vINa and the Saraswati Veena being that, the Saraswati veena mimics the physical construction of the daivee vINa. There are 24 individual segments in the human spinal cord and there are 24 frets in the Saraswati veena.
chitra veeNa The oldest slide instrument. Chitraveena has no frets (or manE) and is more close to vocal music than the saraswati veena. This instrument is also called as goTTuvAdya. Shri. ChitraveeNa ravikiraN is an exponent in playing carnatic classical music on this instrument.
saraswati guitar veeNa is the ordinary electric guitar played with the accuracy and effectiveness of a traditional Saraswati Veena, with slight structural modifications. As a consequence, it is no longer just a guitar but the closest younger sister of Saraswati Veena. Hence the name "Saraswati Guitar Veena". It is very much possible to play near ''Saraswati Veena" quality taanam and kruthi renderings.

The crying world

Presently it difficult to play rAgAlApane in Tanjaore bAni since the instrument needs to have certain slight structural modifications, which I am working onBut, it is rather suitable to play (in the present state though....) rAgAlApane in Mysore bAni and alike. It is also possible to play in S Balachander's bAni, but again needs specific structural changes in order to be fully able to do so.
