Recent Updates:

  • Recycling the Prebiotic Soup Check out a new paper in Chemistry and Biology, co-authored with Nilesh Vaiyda (Princeton University) Niles Lehman (Portland State University) on the importance of recycling genetic material for the emergence of life. The paper includes simulation studies demonstrating how recycling leads to the selection of genotypes from a random pool, and how recycling can lead to the sudden emergence of a high-fitness RNA genotype. Complimentary experimental studies show fragment recycling of the Azoarcus ribozyme. Read the paper here.
