University of St Andrews
I am a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of St Andrews Business School. My research focuses on empirical corporate finance, with a particular emphasis on the economics of innovation, entrepreneurship, venture capital, and the effects of taxation and fiscal policy on corporate strategy. My recent work explores how financial innovations and capital gains taxes influence start-up dynamics and patenting outputs, as well as the underlying mechanisms of the academic and corporate peer review processes. My research has been published in leading academic journals, including Management Science, the Review of Finance, and Research Policy.
I hold a PhD and a Masters in Finance from London Business School. My academic contributions are supported by recent grants from the British Academy and the British Council, reflecting a commitment to research that bridges financial theory and real-world economic impact. In addition to my research, I teach graduate-level corporate finance and governance and I am a recipient of multiple teaching excellence awards. Before joining St Andrews, I held faculty positions at the University of Cincinnati and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
