I am an Associate Professor at the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA. I am an applied micro-economist with research and teaching focus on economic development and global health. My research focuses on the interlinkages between child & maternal health, human capital, and economic performance. Specifically, my research strives to understand the impacts of fetal & early childhood conditions on human capital accumulation in low-income countries.
I am a former Bell postdoctoral fellow at Harvard School of Public Health and has published lead-authored and collaborative works in journals such as Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Health Economics, Demography, Population and Development Review, Applied Economics, Review of Development Economics, Social Science & Medicine, Economic Papers, Applied Economics Letters, Economics Bulletin, Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health, Journal of Public Health, BMJ Open, and PLOS ONE.
I am Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), Bonn, Germany and serve as academic editor of PLOS ONE, PLOS Global Public Health, Journal of Economic Insight. I have worked on projects in India, Bhutan, Mexico, Albania, Ghana.
