San Leandro Families Ride

Sunday May 31st 2009 10:00 - 11:00 AM

May is National Bike Month

People of all ages are invited to join the fun and increase bicycle awareness on San Leandro Streets!

Meet at the parking lot of
Zocalo Coffeehouse at 9.45 am
(Bancroft Ave. and Oakes Blvd)

The route will tour the north side of San Leandro for 5.6 miles

We are envisioning a well-mannered, multi-age version of Critical Mass or a daytime version of National Night Out. We will be bringing our kids to this event, and if our parents lived in town we would be bringing them, as well. Our point, of course, is to increase awareness of bicycles on the streets of our fair city so that some day many more of us might feel inclined to hop on our bikes to do errands, ride to school, visit friends, and enjoy the outdoors.

Please note that there have been no extra safety measures put in place for this event and there will be no street closures. For this reason, we recommend that kids who may not be able to follow directions and ride a bike comfortably for at least several miles ride attached to an adult's bike in some way (bike trailer or bike seat).
