Sanguinis LARP

Introduction

Sanguinis is a play-to-lift World of Darkness campaign focusing on younger vampires. The story is set in and around Haarlem, with the supernatural in an underdog position. Our play goal is creating tense and emotional scenes, that can go deep because of out-game trust. You are encouraged to create small personal plot against the backdrop of a bigger world. Sanguinis is an evening game, invite only, Dutch and English spoken, and takes place roughly every six weeks.

Sanguinis aims to be safe for intense play, so joining is invite-only. If you know someone who wants to join, introduce them to Fenko

It is good to know that this LARP overarching plot is written by one person, as a hobby. As such you can't just pay and join, but really need to match the group culture of deep immersion and play-to-lift, plus be willing to become friends with the other players. :)

Agreement

Agreement

Our goal is immersion and emotion. Our method is OC trust and understanding each others boundaries.

Agreement for Sanguinis:

1. Be a fan of the characters. Play to lift.

2. PVE. No matter how much drama we create within the group (yes, please do), we are not each other's enemies.

3. OC straight talk. We align feelings and wishes OC when relevant, and when we do so are utterly truthful. (Note: "I don't want to tell you yet, because of spoilers" is truthful. Just keep communications open.)

4. Participants can make additional scenes through writing (in google docs), voice calls, and live play (private scenes), beside regular events and specials.

5. We are open to new joiners, but any will be aligned with the group's goals before character start. If there's someone you are not comfortable playing with, inform Fenko.

6. Everyone can create additional characters (npc allies or foes), but we have one main character per player. (Remember agreement #1.)

Check-in

To create intense scenes without making anyone uncomfortable, we check in.

Make the "OK?" sign against your chest as you propose a more intense direction for play.

Your fellow player will now respond with one of three options:

Break up the scene. Best connect later to find other ways to make scenes you both like.

Important - If you're not comfortable with a scene, start the check-in from your side, and make a thumb sideways or down. Check-in exists two ways, and we want you to use them.

Let's make awesome scenes together, that we can all celebrate together afterwards! :D

It can be hard, the first time, to start a check-in. Let's all create a culture where this is the most normal thing in the world. Once we feel safe to know our boundaries will be respected, we will all feel more comfortable exploring those boundaries and thus create risky, intense, dramatic play.

Joining

How to join

How to join Sanguinis LARP:

1. Read the above Agreement about play style and our Check-in process, and ask any questions so that you may accept them fully. In a phone call with Fenko we'll check whether you're a match for the group.

2. We'll invite you to the private website, which explains more about the setting. In order to use this site, a valid email address (ideally on gmail, but your choice) is required.

3. Talk to our character coach about the character you want to play. They'll help you find the right balance and connections to get in-game. Your concept needs to be ready two weeks before the event you join.

4. Join a live session.

5. If you like, join the Facebook group, the Sanguinis Whatsapp group, or our participant-managed Discord channel.

Feel free to ask any questions by email, on Facebook, or in PM.

Contribution

The contribution for events that you join will be €15. For that you participate in the event and get up to two paid drinks at the bar (lemonade/water is always free).

Signing up

Events details are posted on the private website and on facebook. You sign up by paying the contribution. Sign up is possible in case your concept is ready and aligned three weeks prior to an event. That time is needed to create your personal Event Info, with plot hooks to get you started.
