The Sandton Hindu Samaj Gujarati School was established in 2004 and is run under the auspices of the Sandton Hindu Samaj and offers Hinduism (English based) and Gujarati lessons. Tabla and Harmonium lessons are also available as an optional extra.
The school is housed in the Shree Radhe Shyam Mandir Hall in make shift classrooms. However, there is a project in progress to build classrooms. The school is run for three hours every Saturday afternoon from 14:00 to 17:00. The running of the school is overseen by a committee of parents who take overall responsibility for the running of school.
Our children benefit from both the academic activities and the social context created by the school as well in forming their individual sense of self as young South African Gujarati Hindus. Parents and families living out in the northern suburbs also find the school a focal point for networking and meeting new and old friends on a regular basis. It’s great fun.
Harmonium and Tabla lessons run every Saturday (including school holidays) from 13H00 to 14H00 from beginning of January to end November.
If you are interested in sending your children to the school please complete the enrollment form in the downloads section and hand to teachers at the school. Application Form Download
