Welcome to Cobras Baseball

Tryouts for the 2012 15U Cobras - Sunday, August 14, 2011
Tryouts are by invitation only.  The team is in particular need of pitching and power hitting.  For more information, contact Dave Gorsage at dgorsage3@comcast.net.
The Indianapolis Cobras 14U Baseball Club is comprised of young men whose goal is to build their skills and personal character while competing on one of the top travel baseball teams in the Indianapolis area. In 2011, the Cobras finished 24-9 advancing to the championship game in 5 of the 8 tournaments played.

Over the past six seasons, the Cobras are 204-67-2, a winning percentage of almost .700. But the Cobras aren't all about winning. The goal of the Cobras coaching staff is to create a positive learning environment in which players are not afraid to make mistakes. Other goals of the program include:
  • Creating an environment that teaches players to bounce back from mistakes and focus on making the next play
  • Emphasizing the "team concept" of baseball
  • Being as competitive as possible
  • Developing the mental aspect of the game (including the not-so-basic rules of the game)
  • Limiting our pitchers to a reasonable number pitches per game
  • Developing a "pitching staff" comprised of 5-6 pitchers rather than 3-4 pitchers
  • Encouraging and providing opportunities for players to learn more than one position
  • Playing a 25-35 game schedule that involves a limited and manageable travel schedule

We believe it is important that our boys (and their families) enjoy other aspects of summer. For the 2012 season, the Cobras will participate in a tournament Memorial Day Weekend, 3 tournaments in June and 2-3 tournaments in July leaving time for families to do other things besides baseball. We anticipate an occasional doubleheader now and then as well.
