This year's San Diego Regional CATESOL Conference, hosted by Southwestern College and Sweetwater Adult School at Southwestern College's Chula Vista campus on October 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., is sure to enhance both teaching and learning.
Featured plenary speaker, Michael Jones, has been with the federal government for almost eleven years first with the U.S. Department of Education where he served as Branch Chief  of Innovation and Improvement within the Division of Adult Education and Literacy (2000-2004), and then with the USCIS Office of Citizenship (2004-present). Dr. Jones is currently the Division Chief of Training, Testing, and Education.

Prior to coming to
Washington, D.C., Dr. Jones worked for eleven years as a regional supervisor for the Ohio Department of Education and state supervisor for English as a Second Language and Institutionalized Adults. Prior to that, he administered adult education programs and taught English as a Second Language at community based organizations, community colleges, and a university.

Dr. Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Languages, a Master of Arts degree in Human Behavior, Post-Graduate work in TESOL/ Applied Linguistics, and a PhD in International Affairs, specializing in Immigrant Education and Integration.

The conference will offer workshops, special sessions, poster sessions and publisher exhibitions. Participants are invited to gain exciting insights into methodologies and practices, peruse new materials, share ideas and network as well as renew enthusiasm and strengthen dedication to the profession.
