In addition to solo performances and master classes in Europe and Canada,  Dr. Payne has performed with her flute and piano duo, CANSonare (Canadian Sound) and flute and harp ensemble, Duo Pastiche, with New Zealand Symphony harpist, Carolyn Mills and is an invited Guest Artist at the Raffaele Trevisani International Flute Course in Milan, Italy. Currently, Dr. Payne is Co-Founder and Co-Administrator of San Diego Coastal Flutes; Founder of Music West Flute Studio and a freelance performer under the AF of M (American Federation of North American Musicians), San Diego Chapter. In summer, September is flute faculty and performs with the CICA International Orchestral and Chamber Music Festival in Dallas, TX.  Former positions include: San Diego State University, Grossmont and Mesa Colleges, Adjunct Professor of Flute and Music History Lecturer; San Diego Chamber Orchestra, Principal Flute Substitute; The San Diego Philharmonic Quintet; Civic Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble and SDSU Flute Choir Conductor. Committed to pedagogy, September has served as San Diego Flute Guild's, President and is active in  numerous musical societies: NFA, MTAC, Phi Kappa Lambda, Mu Phi Epsilon, and the Marcel Moyse Society. Her mentors include some of the greatest pedagogues and artists of the 20th and 21st Century: Marcel & Louis Moyse, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alan Marion, Geoffrey Gilbert, Albert Tipton, Sir James Galway and Carol Wincenc.

Residing in Del Sur, Dr. Elena Yarritu is a highly accomplished performer and dedicated educator.  In addition to extensive performing and educational experiences in New York and in Europe, she has earned a DMA from Stony Brook University and an MM degree from Yale University. Dr. Yarritu has studied with many fine flutists here in the US and abroad in Europe, including Isabelle Chapuis, the late Alain Marion, Ransom Wilson and Carol Wincenc. She has 25+ years experience in mentoring young talent and teaches privately in North County (92127). Dr. Yarritu is a member of both the National Flute Association and the Music Teacher’s Association of California. She performs principal flute with the La Jolla Symphony and is an artist/board member of the Silicon Valley Music Festival. Dr. Yarritu can be heard on the MSR Classics label in her newly released CD, Scree, featuring works by Mike Mower and Samuel Zyman. MS. VIVIAN BERGOVA, MM

European trained, Ms. Bergova earned the "Best Flute Teacher of the Year" award in her native Czech Republic. Her outstanding credentials include dual Master's degrees from the prestigious Leningrad Conservatory and from the Prague Academy of Music. Now residing in La Jolla, California, she has been teaching since 1989. She is a member of both the California Music Teacher's Association and the San Diego Flute Guild. JEAN LEWIS-BOEHRINGER
Beginning to Advanced Flute

Flutist Jean Lewis-Boehringer has found that being a member of the San Diego Flute Quartet, enables her to both explore her passion for new music, and to take a fresh look at the more traditional repertoire.  Ms. Lewis-Boehringer performs frequently in the San Diego area, and she has played regularly with the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra and the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra.As a soloist, Ms. Lewis-Boehringer has played for the San Diego Early Music Society and the San Diego Harpsichord Society, accompanied by harpsichord.  Ms. Lewis-Boehringer has performed the Copland Duo in a master class with Thomas Robertello, and for a master class with Carol Wincenc, she performed the Frank Martin Ballade. Jean Lewis-Boehringer studied the flute with Carl Bergner and John Krell.  She has also been coached by Sarah Tuck, John Barcellona, and Elena Yarritu.  Ms. Lewis-Boehringer has said that “the flute, with its seemingly endless variations in color and tone, has the ability to move people across a vast canvas of human experience and mood."  Ms. Lewis-Boehringer is also an accomplished scientist, with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, and she has had a prior career as a cancer researcher. sandiegofluteteacher.com, jeanboehringer@earthlink.net, (858) 451-2784.
RENEE TRESKO Flute
Location: Escondido

Renee Tresko attended Ohio State University and studied with William Hebert of the Cleveland Symphony.  She married shortly thereafter and full attention was directed at raising her three children.  She returned to teaching flute privately in 1998.  She is certified in teaching the Suzuki Flute Method, and Kodaly Method of presenting rhythm and solfege concepts incorporating all five senses.   She enjoys starting beginners, and utilizes many different manipulatives and gadgets in order to turn often quizzical or blank expressions into "Aha" moments.  Renee maintains teaching studios at Bertrand's Music Store in Rancho Penasquitos, B & H Music in Escondido, and at her home in South Escondido.  She offers many of her gadgets and flute accessories at her flute accessory website at www.lyricraft.com.
