Sana with Eddie Spence MBE
Welcome to Sana’s Wedding Cakes, we are based in Headington, Oxfordshire and it is a home based business. I am a Professional Multi-Award Winning Cake Artist and leading designer. I work from my studio creating bespoke designs for clientele both in Oxfordshire and across the UK and am a member of The British SugarCraft Guild.
I trained at Barking College London and obtained my certificate in City and Guilds Level 2 Design and Craft, Sugarcraft and Sugar Flowers in 2004. Following this I took private lessons at Squires Kitchen International School of Cake Decorating, Cakes for Fun, PME Knightsbridge and Barry Callebaut Chocolate Academy in Banbury; including other various sugarcraft courses over the years and a one year floristry course in London.
I specialise in bespoke cake designs for all events and one off unusual cake creations. You can choose from hand painted designs, designs influenced by the ancient form of body art from Asia and Persia, the Belgian chocolate collection, children’s cakes, thematic cakes as well as corporate needs. You can commission a ‘special bespoke design’ for yourself or for a ‘special event and both private and commercial commissions are welcome.
The designs you see on this website range from the traditional to the more contemporary with a touch of the romantic. Many of these designs come from the ‘depth of my imagination’ and will, therefore, not be seen elsewhere. You will find a variety of bespoke cake designs in a range of colours, shapes and sizes in sugar paste for wedding cakes. To complement these rich designs. I also offer a range of delicious sponges including rich fruit, chocolate and vanilla. Please note, butter cream cakes are available for children’s cakes only.
I compete in competitions annually alongside other cake artists at the NEC Birmingham and at Squires Kitchen International School of Cake Decorating. I enjoy the challenge and it keeps me on my toes. So far I have won awards in all the competitions I have entered. The most current ones being at Cake International 2010 and Squires Kitchen in March 2010, judged by Eddie Spence MBE himself, who has created cakes for Princess Diana and her Majesty the Queen, no less!
In the past I have taken part in numerous wedding fairs including the annual Blenheim Palace wedding fair in 2009. I have advertised in Asian Bride Magazine, Asiana Magazine wedding directory and several local parishionals.
In November 2009 I gave an interview to tell ‘The Story of Sana’s Cakes’ at the BBC Oxford studios. In December 2009 I was featured in The Friends of the Pitt Rivers Museum newsletter for the donation of a cake at one of their events and in March 2010 my award winning ‘Peacock Duet’ wedding cake appeared in Cake Craft and Decoration Magazine. In summer 2010 my second award winning ‘Oriental Pearls and Hearts’ wedding cake appeared in Squires Kitchen Cakes and Sugarcraft magazine, alongside a second article written by me. In January 2011 i donated a cake to the Children's Ward at the John Radcliffe Hospital which also appeared in the Oxford Mail newspaper.
